Ensemble Correspondances brings to life two of Johann Sebastian Bach's early cantatas — 'Christ lag in Todesbanden' and 'Aus der Tiefe ruf' ich, Herr, zu dir' — composed when the composer was barely 22 years old. These works already display a dramatic and spiritual intensity that points to the genius Bach would become.
Under the direction of Sébastien Daucé, Ensemble Correspondances is recognized as one of France's foremost ensembles specializing in 17th and 18th century vocal repertoire. This concert offers a rare window into the earliest creative stirrings of one of music history's most transformative composers.
The concert is presented in co-production with Bourgie Hall and takes place within the framework of Festival Bach 2026 in Montreal. Tickets are available through the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal.
