Blood and Sun is an American dark folk project created by Luke Tromiczak and performed with a rotating cast of musicians from across the United States. The music is ritual, intense and marked by raw simplicity, with vocals, strings and a pulsing, near-ceremonial rhythm at its core. Songs circle around existential themes, personal trials and a search for meaning, rooted in traditional folk with a clear spiritual dimension.
Since its formation in 2011, the project has gained international recognition for its dark, atmosphere-laden songwriting, blending gothic tones and mythically inspired narratives into moments that are both grand and intimate. Blood and Sun operates in the tension between the earthly and the metaphysical, drawing on elements of 1970s folk, black metal aesthetics and atmospheric soundscapes where repetition and texture play a central role.
