Architectures de la Joie

Architectures de la Joie is a theatrical reading and performance piece written and performed by Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette and Steve Gagnon. The show takes the form of a correspondence between the two artists, exploring the concept of joy in a world that makes wonder increasingly difficult to access.

The piece examines joy not as something passive or accidental, but as a deliberate and considered posture — chosen, cultivated, and worked at. Joy is framed as a subversive force: a foundation beneath anger, solitude, and sadness, and a motor for resistance against injustice.

With equal measures of humour and tenderness, the two voices trace together the fragile path of joy as permission, as disobedience, and as a means of resilience. The running time is 1 hour 15 minutes with no intermission, performed in French.

The production is presented by La Tribu. Tickets are priced at $50.01 CAD, taxes and fees included.
