Nesraf

Nesraf is a Montréal-based group of musicians and vocalists formed over more than ten years of friendship and artistic collaboration, united by a deep passion for Algerian Chaâbi music. The ensemble gained wider recognition through their participation in the 24th edition of the Festival de musique du Maghreb (Nuits d'Afrique). Their repertoire draws on the Chaâbi and Andalusian traditions, a style popularised in Algeria in the 1930s by El Hadj Mohamed El Anka and rooted in the music of streets, cafés and ceremonies.
