Kakkmaddafakka formed in Bergen and has been one of the most distinctive names on the Norwegian indie scene since the late 2000s. Their sound mixes indie pop, rock, funk and danceable grooves.
The band has built a following well beyond Norway and has toured heavily in Europe and Latin America. They have particularly loyal audiences in Germany, Spain and Mexico, and are regulars on festival and club stages.
Their 2011 album Hest was a turning point, with songs such as "Restless" and "Your Girl" reaching a wider audience. In 2026 they celebrate its 15th anniversary and release their eighth studio album, Untitled, which draws on 1980s pop and rock while keeping their melodic and rhythmic style.
