To mark twenty years of friendship and an exceptional shared career, pianists Amélie Fortin and Marie-Christine Poirier bring their programme 'Harmonie des opposés' to the Grande Salle of Salle Pauline-Julien. The show explores the theme of duality across its many facets, with each work on the programme illuminating a specific form of contrast — paradox, interweaving, light and shadow.
The concert unfolds as both a musical and emotional journey, where the pieces are staged as living tableaux. Lighting designer Julie Basse contributes a renowned visual signature that sees the choreography of the pianists' hands projected in shadow play and on a large screen, transforming the classical recital into a fully immersive experience.
The programme emerged from creation residencies and draws inspiration from the artists' extensive international travels as well as their shared passion for visual art and cinema. Fortin and Poirier have performed on stages across Québec and internationally, earning a reputation for their sensitivity and technical mastery.
