Carmina Burana, composed by Carl Orff in 1937 on medieval Latin and Middle High German poems, is one of the most frequently performed choral works in the world. The piece celebrates the themes of fortune, love and the pleasures of life, calling on an unusually vast orchestral and choral force.
For this production, stage director Anne Lopez brings a strong scenic vision to the concert hall, supported by lighting design by Mathieu Cabanes. The evening brings together approximately two hundred performers on stage.
Musical direction is entrusted to conductor Roderick Cox, leading the Orchestre and Chœur of the Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier Occitanie. They are joined by the young voices of Opéra Junior and the Goyang Festival Choir, a choral ensemble from South Korea.
