L'écho des mondes - Orchestre Classique de Montréal & Oktoécho (Classical Concert)

L'écho des mondes is a collaborative concert bringing together the Orchestre Classique de Montréal and Oktoécho as part of the Festival du monde Arabe. The programme draws a bridge between Middle Eastern musical traditions and contemporary orchestral composition, featuring works by composers from the Arab world and beyond.

The centrepiece of the evening is a world premiere by Katia Makdissi-Warren, whose output includes Orient Tango, Double Concerto pour kamanche et kanun, Razzia, Tango sans sang, and a newly created Concerto pour contrebasse. Additional works on the programme include Didem Başar's Kervan, Bechara El-Khoury's Sérénade pour cordes No.4 Op.98, Anthony Rozankovic's Andalous Shoes, and Fazıl Say's Symphonie de chambre Op.62.

Soloists performing on the night include Étienne Lafrance on double bass, Didem Basar on kanun, Binnaz Celik on kamanche, and David Ryshpan on piano. Percussion is handled by Bertil Schulrabe and Joseph Khoury, while conductor Andrei Feher leads the ensemble.

The concert takes place at Salle Pierre-Mercure on November 5 at 19:30 and runs approximately 1 hour 45 minutes, including an intermission.
