Turandot - Giacomo Puccini (Operauitvoering)

Turandot, Puccini's grand final opera, is presented by Opéra de Montréal in a spectacular co-production with Washington National Opera and Dallas Opera. The production features a vast chorus, dancers, and imposing sets in a retro-futuristic aesthetic inspired by an industrial Orient of the 1950s, portraying Turandot as an autocratic head of state.

A notable feature of this production is a new ending composed by Christopher Tin, offering a more sensitive and dramatically coherent conclusion than traditional completions. The aria "Nessun dorma" will of course resonate through the hall.

The cast is led by Maida Hundeling as Turandot and Andrea Shin as Calaf, with Joyce El-Khoury as Liu and Raymond Aceto as Timur. The production is conducted by Paolo Arrivabeni and directed by Francesca Zambello, with choreography by Jessica Lang and Kanji Segawa.

The Orchestre Métropolitain and the Chœur de l'Opéra de Montréal perform. Performances are sung in Italian with French and English subtitles.

Ticket prices range from $39 to $359 (taxes and fees included), varying by performance. Four performances are scheduled: Saturday 26 September at 18:00, Tuesday 29 September at 19:30, Thursday 1 October at 19:30, and Sunday 4 October at 14:00.
