Jazzclub Ilmenau

Conny Bauer is set to perform a trombone solo at the 2025 Jazzclub Ilmenau festival. His first solo dates back to 1974, and he has built a reputation for his astonishing playing techniques, including circular breathing and multiphonics, as well as captivating loops that create irresistible melodies and virtuosic rhythms.

Gavgav was established in 2021 by Anne-Marie Herda. Since then, the trio has brought Anne-Marie Herda's compositions to life, featuring radical lyrics paired with complex song structures. Their music bridges the gap between gentle melancholy and programmatic abstraction, while showcasing both profound beauty and aesthetic boldness. After their initial studio recordings in 2022, the trio performed concerts throughout 2023, including a tour.

The duo of Aki Takase and Daniel Erdmann will be highlighted in the 2025 jazz festival lineup, presenting a unique jazz performance.

The duo TRAINING, formed in 2019, is collaborating with the acclaimed electric bassist Ruth Goller for an exciting partnership. Together, they create vibrant, dynamic music characterized by winding grooves, intricate instrumental-vocal blends, expressive musical structures, and soaring unison melodies.

The Marthe Lea Band released their album "Herlighetens" at the end of 2023, following their more traditional debut album "Asura," which came out in 2021. Marthe Lea combines sincere, powerful expression with a liberating mix of folk songs and raw energy. The music shines when it flows organically, blending humming melodies, rock grooves, and spontaneous bursts of intensity.

The trio consists of Peter Ehwald, Andreas Lang, and Joe Hertenstein. These three Berlin-based musicians have been longtime friends and have performed together in various settings, infusing their performance with a sense of trust, mutual understanding, and friendship.

Richard Koch is an Austrian-born trumpeter and composer known for his collaborations with artists like Nils Frahm, Jimi Tenor, Hermeto Pascoal, Peter Fox, and the Beatsteaks. His musical style spans jazz, performance art, and large-scale stage rock. His debut album "WALD" was released in 2018, followed by a series of concerts across Europe. In November 2020, he released his album, "STADT".

The Lighthouse Trio was created by Tim Garland, and many will appreciate Grammy-winning saxophonist Tim Garland for his longstanding collaboration with Chick Corea, Gwilym Simcock for his longstanding collaboration with Pat Metheny, and Asaf Sirkis as drummer for Soft Machine. This is a unique and impressive acoustic group in which musical communication is at the forefront. In 2024, the trio celebrates its 20th anniversary, but its tour in 2025 will mark the 20th anniversary in Europe and beyond.

The ‘Geyer-Gottwald Project,’ specially created to conclude the anniversary festival, features organist Andi Geyer, a prominent figure in the Thuringian music scene, alongside guitarist Scotti Gottwald from Halle. They are rhythmically supported by Charles Sammons on bass and Dave Bönsch on drums, both of whom are new to Ilmenau.
