ZAR ELECTRIK + TEMENIK ELECTRIC

ZAR ELECTRIK brings together gnawa trance traditions, sub-Saharan musical loops and bewitching electro into a celebration that blurs the boundaries between North Africa, West Africa and the dancefloor. The project is led by Anass Zine and Arthur Péneau, who handle vocals and a range of acoustic and electric instruments including gumbri, oud, kora and percussion, alongside Did Miosine on machines.

The sound is rooted in the ternary rhythms and hypnotic repetition of trance music, layered over electronic textures that drive the audience toward a collective, swirling state of dance. Voices shift between enchanting and raw, while grooves carry an unmoored, borderless quality that draws on both Oriental echoes and African polyrhythm.

The concert takes place at the Théâtre Jean-Claude Carrière in Montpellier as part of the Festival Arabesques 2026, beginning at 19:30.
