Imdyazn Canada are rooted in the tradition of the imdyazn โ the wandering Amazigh troubadour-poets of the Souss valley in Morocco. Their art combines sung poetry, ancestral melodies and rhythms passed down through generations of the Amazigh diaspora.
Central to their sound is the rebab, a bowed string instrument that gives their performances a raw, ancient quality. Their set at the Medina stage celebrates the living heritage of Amazigh culture as carried across the Atlantic to Canada.
