John Williams et Rachmaninov - Orchestre Métropolitain

The Orchestre Métropolitain takes the stage at Salle Pauline-Julien under the direction of Québec conductor Simon Rivard for an evening that pairs two musical worlds — John Williams and Rachmaninov.

The first half celebrates the film and concert music of John Williams: his Trumpet Concerto showcases the brilliance of that instrument, while the suite from Far and Away evokes vivid Irish-influenced colours and a sense of journeying.

The second half turns to Rachmaninov's Second Symphony, widely regarded as the composer's masterpiece and one of the last great symphonies of the Romantic era. Its combination of emotional depth, lyrical sweep and musical accessibility has secured its place in the core orchestral repertoire.

The concert forms part of the series 'CAM en tournée et l'OM' and takes place in the Grande Salle of Salle Pauline-Julien.
