Cantes Malditos emerged from an unexpected studio encounter when Granada-based singer Antonio Fernández found himself without a guitarist during a recording session. Producer José Antonio Sánchez brought in Pedro de Dios — guitarist and creative force behind the acclaimed Spanish blues band Guadalupe Plata — and the resulting chemistry gave birth to the quartet.
The band navigates classic flamenco forms including seguiriya, soleá, toná, zambra and petenera, honouring legendary figures such as La Niña de los Peines while embracing a sound charged with electric intensity. Antonio Fernández's deeply rooted flamenco vocals meet Pedro de Dios's expressive guitar playing, with José Antonio Sánchez on bass and Antonio García 'Pelomono' on drums providing a hypnotic rhythmic foundation.
