The Creek Brothers are a Danish roots ensemble steeped in the spirit of the American West — worn Stetsons, prairie dust and whiskey-bottle philosophy. Their sound draws from bluegrass, folk, country, a dash of rockabilly and a hint of blues-jazz, all delivered with the directness of a hip-draw.
The band's arsenal of instruments includes rhythm guitar, acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, banjitar, mouth organ, double bass and a homemade driftwood percussion kit — and, of course, layers of close-harmony vocals.
Their set features material inspired by artists such as Justin Townes Earle, the Soggy Bottom Boys, Johnny Cash, the Stanley Brothers and Marty Robbins, alongside a selection of original songs written by the stream out west.
The Creek Brothers are: Pete Westbrook (rhythm guitar, vocals), Kim Heibon (acoustic/electric guitars, mandolin, banjitar, mouth organ, vocals), Torben Mortensen (double bass, vocals) and Niels Augustenborg (driftwood percussion/effects).
