This special kids' workshop, aimed at children aged 6 to 12, invites young participants to discover the art of weaving through the lens of Gipsy culture. Using colourful wools and ribbons, children will experiment with weaving techniques including the canvas stitch, the soumak stitch, and the Turkish knot to create a small decorative panel.
The session is led by Judith Vittet, a textile artist whose practice centres on recycling discarded garments, reviving them through plant-based dyeing and embroidery. For ten years she has run workshops for a wide range of audiences, including children, seniors, and people with disabilities, and has collaborated with institutions such as the Musée National de la Renaissance.
The workshop takes place at Halle Tropisme on the 'cuisine résidents' stage area, as part of the Festival International Mozaique Gipsy Boheme 2020. A light snack will be offered at the end of the session.
