The Orchestre Classique de Montréal presents Sérénade pour Boris, an evening dedicated to the memory of Boris Brott — artistic director of the OCM for roughly twenty years and son of the orchestra's founder — blending newly commissioned work with beloved repertoire staples.
The programme opens with Ravel's Kaddisch, followed by the world premiere of a double concerto for violin and cello by Jaap Nico Hamburger, performed by violinist Mark Djokic and cellist Chloé Dominguez. Soprano Sharon Azrieli and mezzo-soprano Tessa Fackelman bring their voices to the evening alongside the orchestra.
The second half features Arensky's Variations on a Theme of Tchaikovsky, Alexander Brott's Songs of Contemplation, and Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony — works chosen to reflect Boris Brott's personal musical passions.
The concert runs approximately 1 hour 30 minutes including an intermission. Conductor Andrei Feher leads the ensemble at Salle Pierre-Mercure in Montreal.
