Paradis Ébène is a new play by Phara Thibault, presented at Centre du Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui in the Salle Jean-Claude-Germain from April 20 to May 8, 2027, as part of the 2026–2027 season.
The story imagines a technology that offers Black women an escape to a parallel world where they have never been wronged. Marketed as a cure-all, it triggers a mass exodus: hospitals empty, schools and workplaces fall into disarray, and the social order begins to wobble.
At the centre is Kiara Dumas, a woman in the middle of an election campaign who is torn between her obligations and the call of a rest she has long been denied.
The author describes a political and poetic fresco in which Black sisterhood becomes a force of rupture and rest becomes a radical act. Combining media clashes, digital frenzy and a lyrical chorus, the play sets exhaustion against ambition and examines the price of climbing in a world that demands resilience without ever offering repair.
