Madeleine follows an actress recounting her encounter with a stage director. They are immediately drawn to each other and both want to succeed. He shapes and elevates her, and she lets him, but as their bond tightens, her wish to be recognized becomes entangled with the danger of disappearing.
Maxime Robin reimagines Alfred Hitchcock's film Vertigo through a hybrid form that mixes personal narrative with a lesson in cinema. The stage becomes a space for examining how looking, desire and control work, replaying the film's colors, motifs and sense of vertigo to show how an image can both lift up and confine.
Text and direction are by Maxime Robin, with Sophie Thibeault assisting on the direction and Isabeau Blanche performing. It is a creation by La vierge folle, co-presented with the Centre du Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui, and plays in the Salle Jean-Claude-Germain.
