Future-Past is Now & Shadow Play

Future-Past is Now and Shadow Play present the creative results of the Empreintes committees, a youth initiative by ENSEMBLE for the respect of diversity. The initiative encourages youth empowerment around inclusion, diversity and equity.

Since June 2026, two youth committees have explored identity, ancestral heritage, representation and social justice through dialogue and creative expression. Participants are mostly from BIPOC and/or queer communities. They turn their experiences into collective works and actions, guided by Rodrigo D'Alcântara, committee coordinator and project curator.

In October 2026, Future-Past is Now is a two-week micro-exhibition of animated short films, collage and video mapping created by Committee 1. It centres on ancestral reconnection and diasporic experiences. Committee 2 also organizes creative workshops and a zine fair on October 21.

In December 2026, Shadow Play is a multidisciplinary performance by Committee 1 that uses dance and costume design to explore multicultural ancestry, memory and embodied narrative. Committee 2 presents a performance-fashion show of upcycled and transformed garments, treating fashion as a space for personal and collective identity expression.

Admission is free.
