EMEL & Camélia Jordana: Concierto Pop Folk

Emel Mathlouthi, the Tunisian artist internationally recognised for her anthem 'Kelmti Horra' — a symbol of the Arab Spring — and her album 'Holm', brings her latest project 'MRA' (meaning 'woman' in Arabic) to Montpellier. The album serves as a manifesto for female emancipation, blending African trap, batucada, Arabic reggaeton, hip-hop and drum & bass with vibrant melodies and incisive lyrics.

Always at the forefront of global music, Emel draws inspiration from Eastern and Western musical traditions, propelling her majestic voice as a banner for peace. Her sound is stylised, engaged and poetic, underpinned by dark and spellbinding harmonies.

She is joined on stage by Car Geryl on drums and Pier Salami on keyboards and machines.

Camélia Jordana also appears on the bill for this evening presented within the Festival Arabesques programme.
