The Round Tower is reopening its historic Observatory at the very top of the tower following a restoration that began in January. To mark the occasion, the Observatory will be open each evening during the autumn school holiday โ Monday 12 October to Friday 16 October โ from 18:00 to 21:00.
Visitors are invited to look through the large telescope and explore the night sky with guidance from two experienced resident astronomers. With autumn darkness settling in, conditions are right for planetary observation, and Saturn โ complete with its iconic rings โ is among the highlights on offer, weather permitting.
The Observatory is a public facility, welcoming visitors of all ages. The astronomers on duty can speak to a wide range of topics, from planets and stars to the 17th-century Danish scientist Ole Rรธmer and the history of astronomical instruments kept at the tower.
The sessions take place in the Observatory at the top of the Round Tower, accessed via the famous helical ramp. The event is held in The Library Hall stage area of the venue at Kรธbmagergade 52 A, Copenhagen.
