Peng Hsu + Diego Gil (Double Bill)

This double bill brings together two distinct works of experimental performance at Édifice Wilder's Espace Orange in Montreal. Evening performances run at 7pm on October 8, 9 and 10, with a matinée at 4pm on October 11. A post-show discussion with both artists is scheduled following the October 9 performance.

The first work, by Peng Hsu, is titled 'Cucumbers, the Melancholy of a Turtle, and a Girl Otaku's Romance' (40 minutes). Set between Taiwan and Ottawa, it is a theatrical duo involving an endangered turtle and features absurdist imagery — cucumbers falling from the sky, students being knocked down, people forced to grow up too quickly — alongside the narrator's private domestic tensions. The piece combines absurdist storytelling, physical theatre and dance.

The second work, by Diego Gil, is titled 'El sentir de las superficies' (40 minutes). This solo performance blends personal narrative with speculative queer cosmological science-fiction, exploring alternative ways of perceiving the architectural spaces that shape our bodies. Using everyday gestures, dance and installation, the work proposes that desire extends beyond the body and manifests as an atmospheric relational aura tied to objects, always on the edge of vanishing.
