Total Hip Replacement & Anyankofo is a nine-piece collective with roots in both Ghana and Denmark. Their sound blends Ghanaian highlife, reggae, dub and soul, with warm grooves and prominent horns. At ALICE they celebrate the release of their second album, "Ehum" (2027).
"Ehum" was made on the road, through touring, travels in Ghana and jams with Ghanaian and Danish musicians. Contributors include West African reggae legend Tiken Jah Fakoly, Kwame Yeboah, and musicians from Florence Adooni's band and Santrofi.
The band's first Danish-Ghanaian album, "Anyankofo" (2022), led to extensive tours across Europe, South America and West Africa. It also brought appearances at European festivals such as Bout du Monde and Reggae Jam.
The concert is part of Vinterjazz 2027, a nationwide festival running from 29 January to 28 February. More information is at jazz.dk.
