Baroque Journey to the North - Les Boréades

Les Boréades is a Quebec-based baroque ensemble presenting a programme dedicated to 17th-century English and German chamber music. The concert pairs two parallel musical traditions: on the English side, works by Matthew Locke, Henry Purcell, and John Blow; on the German side, compositions by Johann Adam Reincken, Johann Heinrich Schmelzer, and Dieterich Buxtehude.

The four performers — Francis Colpron, Olivier Brault, Mélisande Corriveau, and Christophe Gauthier — form an intimate ensemble of recorders, violin, viola da gamba, and harpsichord, recreating the atmosphere of aristocratic salons and court music from the era before public concerts became common.

The concert takes place at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, 137 Avenue du Président-Kennedy, Montreal, QC H2X 3P6, on Thursday, November 26, 2026, at 19:30. It is presented as part of Festival Bach 2026.
